So, while scrounging around in a variety store - I happened upon an old, beat-up child's rocker. I instantly fell in love with it, imagining my son playing in it, reading books, cozy-ing up with a blanket & whatnot. It definitely needed to be reupholstered, but I thought that might be a fun DIY project...er...challenge. I immediately set about researching how to reupholster overstuffed furniture. At first, all the online information made it sound simple. As I dug deeper, I found several resources that recommended the job should only be done by professionals - "don't try this at home unless you've taken an official upholstery course." What?! Uh oh. I finally found a very helpful website that I followed pretty much to the letter. I am indebted to them. So here's what I did, step by step: The outside back & inside back are off - revealing sub structure. The left arm is partially uncovered, too. I can see now that I will not be able to reuse any of the existing padding (which I suspected). I marked all the pieces I removed with chalk, just in case I need to refer to them later. I also took notes as I disassembled the chair so I don't wonder later: "How did they attach these pieces?"
