A lot has happened since March. Jonah turned 3 in April and we had a Super Why themed party for him with a handful of other kids. Although it rained all day...okay, we had a downpour, really...we had a nice time indoors looking for Super Letters and eating cupcakes.
Also in April, Jonah started preschool. His speech delay qualified him for the state program (early intervention) and the highlight of each day for him is riding the school bus. He gets the biggest smile on his face each morning when it stops at our driveway. When I ask him if he had a good day at school, his usual response is: "I rode the school bus!" So, if nothing else, we know he enjoys the beginning and end of each day: the ride.
At the end of April, beginning of May we began quite a big home improvement project: replacing our driveway (and part of our garage floor). The concrete was long overdue for replacement due to giant cracks & sunken in areas that took on water during our "monsoon-like" rainy seasons here in the mid-west. After getting professional estimates, our bank account told us we better do the job ourselves.
The good news is, our church's yard sale got about 2 truck loads of all sorts of things from tools to stereos to camping gear. So, if you're in the area this June and looking for a nice yard sale to attend that will benefit a good cause: stop by Emmanuel Baptist Church! *smile*
We managed to make good progress so far, though. We got an extension on the skid steer rental, so we're working evenings and recently, Ben has taken some half days from work to continue the progress now that the mud has dried up a little. Unfortunately, the base material is mostly clay, so it doesn't absorb water very well. We threw down some kitty litter yesterday to assist in absorption. The garage is about half-way demolished; so...we're getting there.
Next step: forms & gravel. Then on to pouring & finishing cement!
I'll try to keep you updated more often - at least, hopefully sooner than 2 months apart.
